Student Services
Intrax Canada is more than just an English language school where you only receive classroom English instruction. Our dedicated staff prides themselves on providing you with an exceptional level of guidance and support to ensure a memorable, exciting and successful time with us.
The goal of the Intrax Canada Student Services Team is to ensure overall student satisfaction. The team is comprised of a group of Student Advisors who are there to assist, support, and advise students through every aspect of their stay in Canada. The services they provide include:
Custodianship Minor children who come to Canada to study, and who are not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, must be cared for by a responsible adult in Canada. This person is known as a custodian. Legal arrangements must be made to give the custodian in Canada permission to act in place of a parent. Two notarized documents are required. A notarized document is a document that has been certified by a notary. Please inquire with the Canadian visa office in your country or refer to the CIC website for further information. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-minors.asp
Intrax Canada ensures that students are monitored for social and academic development throughout their stay and ensures that the families they will be staying with are safe and supportive. In case of any medical or legal emergencies, the custodian can legally access information and provide support to the student. This will be done only with the consent of the natural parents.
If needed, please request custodianship at the time of enrolment so that we can provide you with the necessary documents to complete this process. Custodianship Fee $150
Some airlines offer Unaccompanied Minor Service (UM Service) for young children travelling alone. The service must be arranged with the airline and this service generally costs about ~$100 in addition to the cost of the flight. If a child is traveling as a UM, special protocol must be followed by our transfer service staff for the pick-up and drop-off services. Please let us know if your child is traveling as a UM when registering so that we can provide you with the name and contact information of the person meeting your child at the airport. We cannot provide you with this scheduling information until your flight has been confirmed.
Upon arrival at Vancouver International Airport, airline or airport staff will usually accompany the student through customs and escort them to the public greeting area. At this time, our transfer service staff will meet with the student and identification will be verified. If you have not made arrangements in advance with Intrax Canada, your child may be held unnecessarily by the airline staff. Please also check with the Canadian Embassy regarding unaccompanied minor parental consent required at port of entry. For drop-off service at the end of your child’s stay, our Homestay staff verifies flight details with your child and provides guidance for the departure date. Our transfer service staff will pick your up child at their Homestay house and escort them to the airport. Our staff will accompany your child through check-in and, if they have registered as an Unaccompanied Minor, accompany them to meet with the airline representative. Once the child has been handed off to the airline staff, the airline still requires that our staff remain at the airport until the flight has actually departed. In the case a flight is cancelled, our transfer staff must meet the student and make arrangements for your child.
Traveling is tiring and can be overwhelming even if you feel confident in your English language skills. Our Intrax Canada staff can work with you to either recommend the best and most affordable route on public transportation to your accommodation, or organize your transportation to and from the airport to make your arrival and departure to and from Vancouver easier.
Our transportation service includes meeting you at the curbside arrival area of the airport and dropping you off with your host family. Upon departure, you can also request to be picked up from your home and dropped off at the departure area of the airport in plenty of time for your return flight home. In order to take advantage of this service, you must provide your detailed flight information to Intrax Canada at least two weeks before your arrival or departure date.

Medical Insurance Intrax Canada is very expensive, so all students attending an Intrax Canada program must have Emergency Medical Insurance for the duration of their stay. We will keep a copy of the insurance policy in the student’s file.
Emergency Medical Insurance can be purchased through Intrax Canada and costs $25 CAD per week. Please request insurance coverage from the start date to the end date of your study program. Students purchasing insurance through Intrax Canada will be insured through Student Guard. See www.guard.me/ for further information. If you extend your stay please ensure you also extend your medical insurance.
